This sculpture was welded up from small strips of bloom iron, inspired by some large pieces of African work I saw in Tom Joyce's "Striking Iron" exhibit. These African smiths created a brilliant approach to making large thin plates using a small fire and a hammer. This piece retains all the experiments and failures as I tried to puzzle out this method.
